OSD Solution Summit – empowering the pharma industry

The two-day agenda combined scientific perspectives with current market and technology trends. Experts from Syntegon, Recipharm, Weleda, Capsugel, Biogrund, the University of Strathclyde, and Graz University of Technology shared their perspectives on developments ranging from formulation and processing to capsule technology, excipients, and emerging nutritional supplement markets.

Artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics were another important focus. Among the highlights was a panel discussion, which explored how manufacturers can move from collecting process data to using it for automation – and, looking further ahead, increasingly autonomous processes. The discussion made one point particularly clear: Data creates value when it helps manufacturers make processes more robust, efficient, and reliable. The OSD and the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing industry are on their way into the digital era but still have a few steps to take toward the fully autonomous Factory of the Future.
